This is the main screen for the Podfeeder client. All configuration will be done from this screen, so we'll
be spending more time documenting it.
To get to this screen, click on the Podfeeder icon, and select the 'Settings' option.
Automatic Download
Use this option if you want the client to automatically check for podcasts at a
specified frequency. If you only wish to check podcasts manually, do not check
this.
Download Frequency
How often do you want to check for new podcasts? Select how many hours you want between checks.
Download Location
Specify where you want your podcasts to be downloaded.
Bandwidth Limits (Subscriber Feature)
This feature lets you tell the Podfeeder client when to stop downloading. This limit is a
per session limit. That means every time you start up the client, you get a fresh limit. The default
value of 999 means no limit (ie: unlimited downloading).
When the client finishes a download check, you can hover over the system
tray icon to see how much you have downloaded. The client will tell you when you have reached your limit.
[Note: If you are just under your limit before you start a big download you may go over your set limit.
Subsequent downloads will be halted.]
Default Genre (Subscriber feature)
This is a feature that allows you to set a default Genre for your downloaded podcasts.
What is a Default Genre?
Both iTunes and Windows Media Player have a genre field that is set from your media file.
With the Podfeeder client, you can decide which genre you want all of your
podcasts to have.
This helps when sorting through your media library. Imagine the benefit of
being able to sort by 'my podcasts', 'podcast', or 'podcasts' as a genre.
Here is a sample of what the genre field looks like in iTunes.
Player Selection
Currently the Podfeeder client supports iTunes and Windows Media Player. You can choose either one
(or both), but you must choose one. If you don't, your podcasts will download to your download location, but
you won't get any playlist generation.
